my first real six string..

Been thinking of getting myself a guitar for ages now.Should have realised my dream of owning one as soon as i started earning, but somehow the urge dint get serious enough. But in recent times ive had recurring dreams about playing a guitar and have found myself listening to the guitar riffs in songs with almost a painful inensity, wondering how such marvels could be executed using an instrument and wishing to try performing some of them myself. I started asking all friends i knew about the purchase of my first guitar. Most suggested a acoustic guitar, probably a givson, but Vindo suggested a classical guitar as a much better instrument for a starter. But the G man said "ya would appreciate the classical guitar for its simplicity/minimality better if ya're in touch with the whole scene. its like the soul of the whole guitar scene. i was jus worried ya wouldn't get the pleasure of playin a classical guitar if ya start off immediately widdit. the kinda legacy attached widdit". This decided me on getting myself an acoustic guitar first. Then came the actual details of how to choose one. Most people said that it'd be a personal choice and whatever i felt most cofortable with or experienced a resonance with would be the best one for me. But some of the more obvious defects to look out for would be bent fretboard, cracks in the fretboard edge, lose tuning screws etc. Been reading up a little about how to choose a guitar on the net and now i feel slightly more sure about getting myself one. Then came the place to get it at. After some research, decided that Musee Musicals would be the place for the purchase in chennai. Informed my parents about my decision to get myself a guitar and had them smirking at my sudden decisions(which is not really surprising as within the last coupla months, ive decided to get myself an ipod, a worldspace station, a formal shoe and a guitar!! and ive always been the "i dont want anything" type).
But somehow i now feel like giving the purchase a little more time. I want the desire for a guitar to mature a little more, ripen and become a more serious decision. I want to savor the wait for it and also to learn more about what i want to do with a guitar in my posession more clearly. This is great, i think im gonna love this period of waiting for the love of my life, my guitar.
