Yesterday was a remarkably pleasant day. Reached office early to find a mail awaiting me about some changes in the job i'd delivered the previous day. Apprehensive about a major alteration i started looking through the review with my stomach in a knot. But all was well, and the change was just an hour's work. After having given the altered thingie over to the reviewers, i sat back and relaxed in a well-earned break. Then i stumbled upon this site i-cynic.com. Great site for anyone who is as disillusioned with life as i am. With a happy feeling of being at home, i browsed through this gem of a site pretty thoroughly and man, there is a lot of history behind cynicism that i i wasnt familiar with so far out there. Especially about the etymology behind the word cynic and its close connection to our faithful friends, the canines, as well as the illustrious predecessors of us cynics. But even the music of the baying hounds gets boring after a while. Thankfully, by then it was lunch time.
After an extended lunch break, i got back to the good ole work place and found some more good reading awaiting me. An interview with Bill Watterson, the creator of the best comic strips in existence.. Calvin and Hobbes. That interview gave me a totally different outlook of what a comic strip really means to the artist and how great a medium of expression in can be in the hands of someone who truly appreciates its unique potential. Though ive always thought that comic strips are a superb medium for sarcastic art, the interview made me rrealise i hadnt really given it less than its share of credit. Was a really good read.
Then after some more random browsing from topics varying from ManUnited's thrashing win to the secret of healthy hair, i left office at 6 on the dot with the satisfaction of a day well - spent.
